The key to this universal rejection of God is found in the phrase “who by their wickedness suppress the truth.” In Greek the word translated “suppress” is katechein, which means “hold,” “hold fast,” “keep,” “take,” “hold back,” “restrain” or “repress.” In a positive sense the word is used to mean holding to whatever is good.
